The future of House Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) speakership is not dependent on the success of his recently proposed debt-ceiling increase plan, Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) said.

"I don't believe his speakership is on the line. I just disagree with this particular bill," Broun said Wednesday on MSNBC.

Broun is one of a number of House Republicans who have said they will not support Boehner's plan, proposed earlier this week, that aims to cut $1.2 trillion from the federal deficit while raising the debt limit by $900 billion.

On Tuesday the Congressional Budget Office projected that the Boehner's bill would cut $850 billion over 10 years in federal spending, well below what Boehner had projected. Boehner plans to rewrite the bill so it would cut more than the debt ceiling is increased.

On Wednesday, leaders of two prominent Tea Party groups, Judson Phillips of Tea Party Nation, and Jenny Beth Martin of Tea Party Patriots called for Boehner to be replaced in light of his bill.

"Now Boehner is in the process of surrendering again. He is surrendering not to [President] Obama, but to the status quo in Washington," Phillips wrote in a post on Tea Party Nation's online forum. "The House passed Cut, Cap and Balance, which would cut $111 billion from the budget. It would cap spending and set a good course for the future."

"Maybe we should see about a different Speaker right away," Martin said.
