postheadericon Rep. Guinta predicts Boehner bill will become law

House Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) debt-ceiling increase proposal will pass through the House and Senate and President Obama will sign it into law, Rep. Frank Guinta (R-N.H.) predicted Wednesday.

"I believe this passes the House and I think that, despite what Harry Reid has said, they'll take it up in the Senate, they'll pass it, and the President of the United States will pass it into law," Guinta said Wednesday on ABC's Topline.

"My understanding is that Harry Reid originally agreed to this concept that Speaker Boehner put together and then the president applied some pressure and he pulled back," Guinta continued. "The president also didn't say that he would veto he said that his advisers would advise him to veto â€"he's still giving himself some ability to sign this into law."

Since Boehner unveiled his plan which aims to raise the debt ceiling by $900 billion while cutting federal spending by the same amount or more earlier this we! ek House Republicans have been divided. A number of conservative lawmakers have pledged to oppose the plan but since Boehner released the plan, he has gained the support of other House Republicans.

Democrats have promised that the plan is dead on arrival when it reaches the Senate and will likely never make it to President Obama's desk. President Obama has said he would veto the measure.

In the same interview Guinta said that he planned to vote on Boehner's plan.

"Yeah, I've taken a look at the Boehner package and, you know, right now this is about what can we establish in short and longterm cuts in order to raise the debt ceiling," Guinta said. "The alternative is Harry Reid's plan which is a lot of phantom cuts that doesn't exist in the first place so you're going to see the House Conference put out a bill and a vote ... I do plan on supporting it because it's in keeping with the "Cut, Cap, and Balance" approach that I take."
