postheadericon Second arrest made in attack on congressman's home

An Iowa congressman tweeted his appreciation of law enforcement Wednesday, following the arrest of two men who allegedly broke into his home last weekend.

Rep. Leonard Boswell (D-Iowa), 77, along with his grandson Mitchell Brown, successfully disarmed an intruder who broke into his Iowa home on July 16.

Law enforcement officials arrested two men on suspicion of being involved in the incident. One of them is alleged to having drove the getaway car while the other allegedly assaulted Boswell's daughter Cindy and threatened the family with a gun.

According to a statement by Boswell's office, while Boswell attempted to disarm the intruder, his grandson obtained a shotgun from another room. "Mitchell pointed the shotgun at the intruder who then retreated into the fields around the house," according to the statement.

One of the arrests was made in Boswell's hometown Lamoni, Iowa, on Monday night and the other was made late on Tuesday ! in Missouri.

"My family and I appreciate all of the concern," Boswell tweeted. "We are Ok."

Both men face felony charges, including robbery, burglary and assault while committing a felony, according to the Iowa City Press Citizen.
