Let's Make A Deal, the hyper-partisan Washington version, is back. A Sunday White House meeting this weekend, then likely late-night meetings, and then â€" what? Will Republicans and Democrats and President Obama agree on a massive compromise package that cuts $4 trillion in spending over the next decade and can actually pass the House and Senate? Members of both parties voting for something that raises taxes and cuts entitlement programs? At this point that still seems like something that would only happen in the movies.
 
President Obama hosted Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) at the White House Friday for her own meeting, one designed to bring upset liberal Democrats on board with a deal that compromises not only their principles but eviscerates the political advantage they recently gained on Medicare when the House GOP conference voted to pass an ambitious overhaul of the beloved program. Pelosi made herself perfectly clear Thursday that So! cial Security would not be a "piggy bank" for cuts that protect tax cuts for the wealthy, and said "we are not going to balance the budget on the backs of America's seniors, women and people with disabilities."
