Rep. Michele Bachmann's (R-Minn.) presidential campaign pushed back against reports that the candidate suffers debilitating migraines on Tuesday.

At a South Carolina rally on Tuesday, Bachmann acknowledged she suffers from migraines but denied that they get in the way of her job.

"My ability to function effectively will not affect my ability to serve as commander in chief," she said. "I have prescribed medication that I take on occasion whenever symptoms arise and they keep my migraines under control."

Campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart told CNN a report that Bachmann's health might prevent her from carrying out the job of president is "just not true."

A report in The Daily Caller late Monday alleged Bachmann suffered from migraines triggered by stress on average once a week, and that the migraines left her incapacitated for days at a time.

Bachmann also had a quick defense from another Iowan member of Congres! s on Tuesday. Asked about the report on ABC's Topline, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said Bachmann always rose to the occasion regardless of stressful circumstances.

"When it's time to step up and do your job...you can see she always has," King said.
