postheadericon Santorum: Romney, Huntsman have 'holes in their record'

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) went on the attack Wednesday, saying that former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney (R) and former Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman (R) suffer from "holes in their record."

Santorum, speaking in Iowa, chastised Romney and Huntsman for avoiding the Hawkeye State, suggesting that their records made it more difficult for the two Republican nomination in Iowa.

The bottom line is my values line up with the people of Iowa, and they line up with the Republican Party," Santorum told WHO television. "And I think it shows holes in their record on a variety of issues that they can't go out and compete everywhere."

Santorum's been more openly critical of Romney and Huntsman than most other members of the Republican presidential field. The pair are expected to focus more on the New Hampshire primary and subsequent contests than the Iowa caucuses, where Santorum hopes to make a play, and where his brand of social conservatism may ! play well.

"I think when you don't have a record that is solid across the board or has been somewhat all over the place, then you have to pick and choose where you can do well. I don't think that's our strongest candidate when it's all said and done," Santorum said.
