Over 235 years ago, the United States of America adopted of the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration portrayed our self-determination and establishment, and we commemorate this great moment in history on the Fourth of July. Our nation’s heroes exemplified valor in the battles that earned our liberty. The Declaration led to dramatic action, and what emerged from this War of Independence was our new nation and the Constitution that would guide us to greatness. 

As we celebrate the Fourth of July with parades, fireworks, family and fun, let us first remember our current troops who continue to fight for our freedom. I hope that we will all take time to reflect on the incredible sacrifices made for us by the brave men and women in uniform and their families.
