House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will meet Wednesday night with President Obama at the White House.

White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer said the House and Senate leader would be meeting with the president at the White House after Obama returns from an afternoon trip to Philadelphia and New York.

Pfeiffer tweeted:

@SpeakerBoehner and @SenatorReid are coming back to the White House at 8:45 PM at the President's request to discuss the CR

The meeting comes after marathon negotiations on Capitol Hill to finish work on a measure to fund the government for the rest of this year. Vice President Biden will also participate in the meeting.

Obama said Tuesday he'd summon the congressional leaders back to the White House for a second straight day â€" and successive days, if necessary â€" if no significant progress toward an agreement was reached.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) and Rep. Hal Rogers (R-Ky.), the chairmen of their respective spending committees, would also participate in tonight's meeting.
