The Rayburn House Office Building was closed briefly on Tuesday because of an unattended briefcase.

Capitol Police responded at about 2 p.m. to inspect the briefcase, which had been left at an ATM near the building's subway. The item was not deemed dangerous, and police gave the “all clear” at around 2:30 p.m.

According to U.S. Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, the briefcase was left near a spot where Capitol Police are posted, but officers did not notice anything suspicious.
