Ben LaBolt, currently the communications director to former White House Chief of staff and Chicago mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel, will join President Obama's reelection campaign as press secretary, he confirmed to The Hill on Tuesday.

LaBolt had served as Emanuel's communications director during his successful Chicago mayoral campaign. Before that, LaBolt served in the White House press office under press secretary Robert Gibbs.

Additionally, LaBolt served as Obama's press secretary when he was a senator.

LaBolt becomes yet another Obama campaign veteran returning from another job to work on the president's reelection campaign. Obama's reelection campaign manager is Jim Messina who previously served as a White House deputy chief of staff.

LaBolt will take on his new job after Emanuel is sworn in in May.
