New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) will travel to New York City this week to deliver an address on education, according to his office.

The rising GOP star will outline his education reform agenda at a Thursday event in the Big Apple titled "2011: The Year of Education Reform," sponsored by the center-left Brookings Institution.

Even though Christie has repeatedly said he is not interested in running for president in 2012, his speech could again raise speculation that he is at least pondering the possibility.

Christie last gave a major address before a think tank audience in February, when he traveled to Washington to speak at the conservative American Enterprise Institute (AEI).

Asked about entering the GOP primary field, he said: "Listen, I threatened to commit suicide. Apparently, I actually have to commit suicide to convince people I'm not running."

Christie has made improving schools a centerpiece of his agenda in New Jersey and promoted his reforms, such as tying teacher pay and tenure to classroom performance, during his appearance in D.C.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels (R), a potential 2012 presidential candidate, is also expected to address the topic at AEI.
