Rep. Gabrielle Giffords's (D-Ariz.) office wrote a series of excited tweets about the upcoming launch of the space shuttle Endeavour.

Giffords’ husband, Navy Capt. Mark Kelly, will command the flight, scheduled to launch April 29. Giffords is scheduled to attend, if her doctors approve, although she is not expected to make a public appearance.

Her office has been counting down the days on Twitter. “ONE WEEK until #Endeavour launch!!” read a Friday tweet, which also promised followers “exclusive updates.”

On Thursday, staffers posted a photo of the Endeavour on the launch pad.

Giffords has been in hospitals and rehab recovering since being shot in the head during an assassination attempt in January. Her office reports her condition continues to improve. “She wants to get back to Washington,” Kelly recently said of Giffords on the CBS "Evening News."

President Obama and the first family will also attend the shuttle launch at the Kennedy Space Center in Orlando, Fla.

Following the Endeavour’s last scheduled mission, NASA plans to retire the shuttle and send it for permanent display to the California Science Center in Los Angeles.
