postheadericon Dem tweets reasons to stay out of Libya

The economy and congressional authorization are two reasons the U.S. shouldn't be involved in Libya, Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) argued in a tweet.

"Our nation cannot afford a 3rd war and Congress has not authorized the engagement of US military forces in #Libya," Baldwin tweeted Tuesday.

Some lawmakers have criticized Obama for not properly seeking congressional approval prior to joining in a multinational effort to enforce a United Nations Security Council no-fly zone resolution. Lawmakers have also criticized Obama for not considering the U.S.'s other active military conflicts.

Last Tuesday, Baldwin stated her opposition to U.S. involvement in Libya on her website.

"I oppose this engagement of our military forces," Baldwin wrote.

Her tweet comes a day after Pres! ident Obama defended his decision to intervene in Libya with a speech at the National Defense University on Monday night.
