postheadericon Brazile to serve as interim DNC chairwoman

Democratic National Committee vice chairwoman Donna Brazile will serve as the interim chairwoman until Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) takes over.

A DNC official confirmed that Brazile will head the committee until Wasserman Schultz officially takes over in roughly two weeks. According to DNC rules, Wasserman Schultz cannot take the job for at least 15 days from the day she was nominated.

The four-term lawmaker was appointed chairwoman Tuesday, hours after former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine announced his candidacy to succeed retiring Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.).

Brazile will serve as the interim chairwoman until at least April 20th since Wasserman Schultz was named on April 5th.
