postheadericon Save money, live better: Doing more with fewer nonproliferation dollars

To secure America from WMD terrorism, we could do well by learning some of the lessons of the Bush Administration, while taking President Obama’s clarion call for innovation to heart.

President Obama has made it clear that private sector innovation will be central to ensuring America’s economic leadership around the world. Yet in an increasingly threatening and globalized world â€" one plagued by a challenging budget environment â€" the innovative ability of the U.S. government to do more with less will also be the fulcrum upon which we either succeed or fail to address current and future national security challenges.

Nowhere is this more evident than in our ability to secure this country from the threat of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons terrorism. Spending more money, on more programs, with more equipment, in more countries around the globe has for decades been seen a critical to addressing the evolving proliferation threat.
