postheadericon Romney dispatches donations to 45 House Republicans

Former Massachuetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) dispatched nearly six figures in financial support to House Republicans, many of them freshmen.

Romney's Free and Strong America PAC sent a total of $93,000 in donations to 45 Republican lawmakers, adding to previous donations this year to GOP senators.

"There are many important issues facing Congress and the nation," Romney said in a statement. "By showing our support for Republican candidates who are fighting for conservative principles in Washington, we hope to influence the national debate on jobs, taxes, the economy and the budget."

Romney's contributed more than $300,000 to House and Senate candidates so far this year, according to his PAC.

The donations are a way to build support among lawmakers, whose endorsements could be key to Romney as he prepares to possibly seek the Republican presidential nomination again in 2012.
