When elected officials start calling young voters “foolish” and saying they “vote their feelings” or do not have enough “life experience” to vote and possess “a dearth of experience and a plethora of the easy self-confidence that only ignorance and inexperience can produce,” you have to start wondering if they truly value the rights of all citizens to vote in America.

The right to vote is a fundamental part of our country, what we stand for, and democracy. The right to vote is not something we should have to fight to protect. During a time when people in so many other countries around the globe are dying to obtain this right, it is unfortunate that we are fighting to defend ours.
