Chicago Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel is going to meet his Twitter alter-ego Wednesday to give him a check for $5,000.

Emanuel will meet with the author of the fake @MayorEmanuel Twitter account, which became a sensation during Chicago's mayoral race for its vulgar and almost mythical storyline satirizing the former White House chief of staff. Taking on an almost comic-like storyline, the fake Emanuel went on adventures with former White House adviser David Axelrod, their duck Quaxelrod and their other pet sidekick, Hambone the dog.

Just before the election, Emanuel promised to donate $5,000 to the charity of the author's choice if he came forward.

Earlier this week, The Atlantic magazine unveiled the author as journalist and Columbia College of Chicago professor Dan Sinker.

The Atlantic was the first one to successfully out Sinker. Other media outlets tried and failed, and the Chicago Tribune published an editorial encouraging Sinker to continue tweeting after the mayoral race ended. Sinker stopped the day after the election.

Sinker has not said what charity he plans to donate the money to.

Sinker and Emanuel will meet during a local radio show later Wednesday afternoon.
