In H.R. 1, House Republicans fulfilled part of our promise to the American people. We continued to dismantle Obamacare, cut more than $100 billion and laid a framework for moving away from outrageous, job-destroying spending.

Senate Democrats balked at the measure, killing it in their chamber. This begs the question- are they so bent on gaining political points that they will ignore the looming economic emergency? Or do they actually not see the consequences of their rapid expansion of federal size and spending?

To this point, President Barack Obama and Senator Harry Reid have shown an utter lack of leadership in reducing the size of government. The Senate CR for this fiscal year had a mere $6.5 billion in cuts - an insult to those in the 10th District who are already struggling to make ends meet. That they couldn’t find more to cut in the swollen mass of our federal government is ludicrous.
