postheadericon Lobbying criticism - the good, bad & ugly

Recently three separate incidents have been criticized in the media and online outlets for their connections to the lobbying business. Each requires clarification, but can be divided into good, bad and ugly lobbying criticism.

Let’s start with the good. It is worthy to criticize influence peddling which advocates for things which the American public finds questionable or morally problematic. This has come out recently when examining the lobbying of those who chose to advocate for Qadhafi or Mubarak. Lobbyists have been criticized for working to improve the images of these men or against criticism of perceived human rights abuses. This is good lobbying criticism because lobbying isn’t the same as being a defense attorney.
