A liberal group went on air Wednesday with a new TV ad portraying the Republican spending proposals as prioritizing "corporations over kids."

Americans United for Change (AUFC) launched a new television ad airing nationally on national cable as well as cable stations in the Washington, D.C. area hitting the spending cuts proposed by Republicans in their legislation to fund government the rest of this year.

The ad depicts a "Republican Values Game Show" in which tax breaks for oil companies are preferred over education spending, meaning to portray the GOP Congress as being more interested in protecting breaks for corporations.

"There is a right way and a wrong way to get our country’s fiscal house in order and Republicans have chosen the wrong path: corporate welfare over the well being of Americans and our children’s education," AUFC Executive Director Tom McMahon said in a statement. "Republicans want to play ‘Who Wants to Be a Bi! llionaire?’ with corporate CEOs by leaving in place tax breaks that reward companies that ship U.S. jobs overseas and billions of dollars in needless subsidies for the oil and gas industry."

The Republican House passed legislation on Tuesday funding government at reduced levels for another three weeks past Friday. The Senate is expected to approve the legislation, as well.

Nonetheless, the ad sets the stage for the larger budget debate in the next few months, which will see lawmakers debate funding for the rest of this fiscal year, fight over budget the next year, and raise the debt limit.
