President Obama and Democrats in Congress should stop demonizing the oil industry, a senior Republican on economic issues said Wednesday.

Rep. Kevin Brady (Texas), the top House Republican on the Joint Economic Committee and a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee, said he hoped a GOP majority in the House would end the scapegoating of the industry.

"I sure hope so, because energy's still a huge part of our economy," Brady said during an appearance on the Fox Business Network when asked if a Republican-led House could stop the demonization of oil.
