California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) was thinking of Saturday Night Live on Thursday night as a plane ferrying him to Asia passed over southern Alaska. 

"Over Anchorage, AK.," he tweeted. "Looking everywhere but can't see Russia from here. Will keep you updated as search continues."

The line is familiar from a celebrated September 2008 SNL sketch in which Tina Fey debuted her performance as former Alaska governor Sarah Palin (R). 

During the sketch, SNL's Hillary Clinton, played by comedienne Amy Poehler, begins to describe her extensive foreign policy experience, prompting Fey's Palin to note her own.

"I can see Russia from my house!" she exclaimed.

Schwarzenegger, known to crack occasional jokes on Twitter, was en route to Asia for a six-day trade mission to promote California business in China, Japan and South Korea.
