President Obama will publish a new children's book shortly after this fall's elections, publisher Random House announced Tuesday.

The president will publish Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters, an illustrated children's book, on Nov. 16.

The book will focus on "a moving tribute to thirteen groundbreaking Americans and the ideals that have shaped our nation â€" from the artistry of Georgia O’Keeffe, to the courage of Jackie Robinson, to the patriotism of George Washington," according to a release from Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers, the imprint within Random House publishing the book.

According to the release, the book had been completed prior to Obama's taking office. The proceeds from the book, of which 500,000 copies will first be printed, will be donated to a! scholarship fund for the children of killed and injured soldiers.

Obama has previously proven himself a successful author, having sold millions of copies of his books Dreams From My Father and The Audacity of Hope.
