postheadericon Lautenberg to Gaga: 'Are you handling the whip count' on 'Don't ask'?

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) is the latest of his colleagues to communicate with pop sensation Lady Gaga ahead of Tuesday's vote on a defense authorization bill containing a repeal provision for "Don't ask, don't tell."

"@LadyGaga, are you handling the whip count for today's #DADT vote? Count Senator Lautenberg as a vote to repeal!" he tweeted.

Gaga had previously reached out to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and New York Democratic Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand on Twitter to discuss the bill.

CNN reports the vote has been delayed until 2:30 pm. Republicans are expected to filibuster, leaving the fate of the bill up to Maine Republican senators and critical swing votes Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe.
