Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's (D-N.Y.) office appears to have received a call from Lady Gaga concerning "Don't ask, don't tell," which is scheduled to come before the Senate next week as part of a military reauthorization bill.

"@ladygaga Thx for calling," Gillibrand tweeted Friday morning. "I couldn't agree more and am helping lead the fight to repeal DADT. Do you have a moment to talk later today?"

She later linked to a petition to repeal the policy, and asked that Lady Gaga sign it.

The pop icon has been active on Twitter this week urging her fans to stand for the repeal and encouraging them to call senators.

The vote on the bill is planned for next week.
