TOLEDO, Ohio -- Vice President Biden will make a trip to Toledo, Ohio for Labor Day, his second trip to the Glass City in two weeks.

The vice president will spend part of the holiday at the Toledo Express Airport, according to a local port authority spokeswoman.

The trip signifies the continued emphasis by the Obama administration on the Buckeye State, a key electoral bellwether where a key Senate and governor's race will play out this fall, along with a handful of key House races for Democrats.

President Obama will celebrate Labor Day in Milwaukee with AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka and his secretary of labor, Hilda Solis.

Toledo has been one of the most saturated media markets during the last two presidential elections, with Democrats and Republicans alike pouring millions into the area to seek support from hundreds of thousands of swing voters. It was a frequent stop for Obama and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) during the 2008 pre! sidential election, and President George W. Bush and Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) visited the city often during the 2004 presidential race.

Obama has made nine trips to the state since taking office, and Biden's made a number of trips himself, on behalf of stimulus programs in the state and a slew of Democratic candidates.

Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D), one of the Democrats facing a tough reelection challenge this year, told a Toledo ABC affiliate that he would "absolutely" welcome Obama to Ohio for another campaign appearance.

Strickland may appear Monday alongside Biden in Toledo. A spokeswoman for the governor did not respond to a message seeking comment.
