postheadericon Waters says she won't be 'sacrificial lamb'

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) remained defiant one day after the House ethics committee charged her with three violations of House and federal ethics rules.

In an interview with Roland Martin on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, the 10-term lawmaker reiterated that she has not been given due process and that she "will not be a sacrificial lamb for anyone," CNN reported.

Waters is charged with breaking conflict of interest rules due to her role in securing Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) funds for a failing ban! k in which her hisband was heavily invested.

The congresswoman's interview is the first time she spoke publicly since the formal charges were released. The House ethics committee released a report last week detailing the allegations against Waters, after which she strongly denied any wrongdoing.

She said she would rather face trial than admit to doing “something I did not do.”

In her interview Tuesday, Waters said that she is "not guilty of any violations" and she "want[s] to go to trial."
