Two of President Obama's top political advisers are heading back to Iowa next month

White House senior adviser David Axelrod and former campaign manager David Plouffe will headline Sen. Tom Harkin's (D-Iowa) annual steak fry in Indianola, Iowa on Sept. 12. 

Plouffe still serves as an outside political adviser to the White House.

“Ruth and I are thrilled that Iowans will have a chance to hear from two of the nation's smartest political strategists," Harkin said in announcing the duo's appearance. “Not only did David Axelrod and David Plouffe build a stellar presidential campaign in 2008, they both have tremendous experience in Iowa campaigns.”

Harkin's steak fry has become a major political gathering in the first presidential caucus state.
