President Obama will be just minutes away from former President George W. Bush on Monday, but there is no plan for a meeting, a White House spokesman said.

Obama will attend a Democratic fundraiser this afternoon in Dallas, where Bush lives. Deputy press secretary Bill Burton said the two won't cross paths.

"I think that the president will obviously see him at some point in the future. I don't know if there was a request for a meeting," Burton told reporters.

One possible explanation: Obama may take a few shots at his predecessor in what's expected to be a red-meat speech to a partisan audience.
