postheadericon Clemens: 'I did not lie to Congress'

Former Major League Pitcher Roger Clemens denied he lied to Congress after he was charged with lying to lawmakers about steroid use.

Clemens posted a message on Twitter Thursday, denying that he ever took performance enhancing drugs and that was untruthful:

I never took HGH or Steroids. And I did not lie to Congress. I look forward to challenging the Governments accusations, and hope people will keep an open mind until trial. I appreciate all the support I have been getting. I am happy to finally have my day in court.

The former Cy Young Award winner was indicted with five separate charges: three counts making false statements and two counts of perjury. All of them pertain to Clemens's congressional testimony.

The charges relate to Clemens's February 2008 testimony before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, during which he denied, under oath, that he had ever used performance enhancing drugs.
