postheadericon Romney blasts N.H. stimulus renovation of historic bridge the 'absolute bridge to nowhere'

Mitt Romney dubbed a historic bridge restoration the "absolute bridge to nowhere" and slammed President Obama's stimulus package as the "the largest one-time careless expenditure in American history."

Romney was speaking in front of the recently renovated Sawyer Bridge in Hillsborough, N.H. The 19th century stone arch bridge received some $150,000 from the federal stimulus bill for repairs. But Republicans have noted that the passway hasn't served vehicles since the 1888 and ends in a empty field.

"This is the absolute bridge to nowhere," Romney said. "That's your stimulus program at work, a bridge that goes nowhere."
