postheadericon Report: Emanuel 'livid' with Cubs owner after soliciting Jeremiah Wright attack ad proposal

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is reportedly not returning calls from the family of Cubs owner Joe Ricketts after a report Thursday revealed the billionaire had commissioned a proposal for a $10 million ad campaign linking President Obama to his former pastor Jeremiah Wright.

The Ricketts family has been lobbying Emanuel for help in renovating the Cubs' historic Wrigley Field, built in 1914. But according to a Emanuel aide quoted anonymously in the Washington Post, " the Ricketts have tried to contact the mayor, but he’s said that he does not want to talk with them today, tomorrow or anytime soon."

“The Mayor was liv! id when he read that the Ricketts were going to launch a $10 million campaign against President Obama â€" with the type of racially motivated ads that are insulting to the president and the presidential campaign,” said the aide. “He is also livid with their blatant hypocrisy."
