"I literally brought my axe to Washington," he told The Hill on Tuesday. The large axe is kept unsheathed in the freshman congressman's office and "propped up on my credenza in the corner," he said.

Duffy wielded the axe in a new video posted this week to highlight the congressman's position in the Republican New Media Challenge, a social media competition among House Republicans that entered its third week--focusing on YouTube--Monday.

In the video, Duffy urges supporters to go to his YouTube channel and hit subscribe. The challenge counts new subscribers gained from Monday through Friday this week.

"Go big," Duffy said in the video. "Let's do it Wisconsin style. Bringing the axe to Washington."
