postheadericon Democrats mourn 'Where the Wild Things Are' author Maurice Sendak on Twitter

Many members of Congress read Maurice Sendak to their children, but immediately following reports of his death on Tuesday, the children’s author seemed most popular with Democrats.

On Tuesday, several Democrats â€" including Sens. John Kerry (Mass.) and Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and Rep. Gerry Connolly (Va.) â€" took to Twitter following the death of the children’s book author. Sendak, 83, is best known for his 1963 Where the Wild Things Are, a book initially banned by many libraries that has become a children’s classic. President Obama introduces it as “one of my favorite classic books of all time” every year before reading it to a group of children at the White House Egg Roll.
