Like a politician? Thank a teacher.

Members of Congress were tweeting on Tuesday about Thank a Teacher Day, part of the National Education Association’s national Teacher Appreciation Week.

Several members of Congress shared the way that teachers â€" and teaching â€" have influenced their own lives.

Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) even credited a teacher for prompting his political career.
