After months of build-up and eager anticipation for a new national transportation bill, House Republican leaders are left scrambling to find any support for their bill. As introduced, HR 7, the American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act, is so ill-conceived and poorly crafted there is little support for it -- even from within Republican ranks.

Republican’s leaders touted HR 7 as their hallmark jobs package that will get America’s economy back on track. Instead, they crafted a bill that is made up of giveaways to private industries, creates total instability for transit funding, walks away from environmental safeguards and strips safety protections for many American workers.
