Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, predicted Tuesday that if Mitt Romney loses Michigan, there will be “more activity among the Republican establishment” toward the goal of recruiting an alternative candidate.

He said “top Republicans” are “concerned that Gov. Romney has not been able to break loose” in the primary race.

“I have no inside knowledge, just whispering and mumbling,” he said.
