postheadericon Lin 'humbled' by Obama praise

Basketball star Jeremy Lin responded Wednesday night to praise from President Obama.

"I'm very, very honored and very humbled," Lin said in response according to ESPN. "I mean, wow, the president. Nothing better than that."

On Wednesday, White House press secretary Jay Carney speaking to reporters in a press gaggle on Wednesday said President Obama ! was "very impressed" with the New York Knicks phenomenon.

Lin's comments came after the Knicks beat the Sacramento Kings, 100-85.

In talking to reporters, Carney said that that he and the president, "an avid basketball fan" had been talking about Lin on Marine One. On Tuesday, Lin shot the winning three-point basket to win the game for the Knicks over the Toronto Raptors, 90-87.

"It's obviously terrific for the New York Knicks, but it's the kind of sports story that transcends the sport itself," Carney said.
