An unidentified male civilian suffered a serious hand injury at the White House Tuesday morning.

Lon Walls, spokesman for the D.C. Fire and EMS Department, told The Hill that emergency services were called to the White House at 10:52 a.m. Tuesday.

“We went there with a report of a possible amputation of either one or two fingers,” Walls said, but could not provide further details on the nature of the injury or what led to it.

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment Tuesday afternoon, and the identity of the injured male has not yet been released.

“It was a male, and it was a civilian, [but] we’re not sure it was a staffer or not,” Walls added. “But the person was assessed and we transported them to Washington Hospital Center.”
