Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) finished the Congress on Your Corner event Monday, roughly a year after the Jan. 8 rampage where she was shot in the head.

At the time of the shooting, Giffords was in the midst of the Tucson event, outside a grocery store.

"Rep. Giffords finishing the Congress on Your Corner event she started a year ago on 1/8/11," Giffords' Twitter said.

Giffords is finishing the event just ahead of her planned resignation from Congress.

On Sunday she announced that she would step down from her seat. Prior to that though her office said she planned to attend President Obama's State of the Union event and finish the Congress on Your Corner event.
