Missouri lawmakers responded with sadness and resignation to the news that baseball slugger Albert Pujols had been traded from the St. Louis Cardinals to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

"I’m devastated,” Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-Mo.) told The Hill on Thursday. "You can always play Monday morning quarterback but I think if we had gotten a deal last spring that this wouldn’t have been an issue.”

On Thursday, news broke that Pujols, part of the Cardinals 2011 World Series championship team, had agreed to a 10-year deal with the Angels. According to multiple reports, Pujol's 10-year contract was for at least $250 million.
