Rick Santorum's campaign is teasing a "major campaign announcement" on Friday in Iowa.

"Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum will travel to Cedar Falls, Newton, and cap off his day with a major announcement in the Des Moines-area this Friday," the campaign announced in a press release. 

The announcement is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST in Johnston, Iowa.

Santorum has been campaigning hard in Iowa and is scheduled to spend the entire week in the coveted early primary state.

He has angled himself as one of the more conservative candidates in the Republican 2012 presidential field and, in the process, has been able to snag a few notable endorsements among conservative Iowa Republicans.

Still, Santorum has not been able to make much movement in the polls and has generally trended toward the wrong end of the field in recent polling.
