postheadericon Obama campaign looks to profit off GOP debate with drinking-game-style fundraiser

When Republican presidential candidates slam President Obama at their debate on Wednesday night, they could inadvertently be helping his campaign.

The Obama campaign is encouraging Democratic donors to visit its G.O.P. Debate Watch website, where supporters can pledge to donate every time one of the candidates uses a word from a pre-designated hot list.

The word list includes ObamaCare, flat tax, (de)regulation, RomneyCare, repeal, amnesty, socialist(ism), class warfare and 9-9-9. Donors can pledge any amount over $3 per word, but can set a maximum possible donation amount.

Those joining the game late will be charged for words used since the beginning of the debate.

The donation request mimics the drinking games that have sprung up on Twitter surrounding the debates, where political junkie! s take a swig of alcohol every time a candidate uses a certain term.

“Dammit. 'Caliphate' was my finish the whole damned bottle word,” The Nation reporter Jeremy Scahill tweeted after Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn) used the word at the Sept. 7 debate.
