postheadericon Rumsfeld objects to Krugman blog post, cancels Times subscription

Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld canceled his subscription to The New York Times in response to a blog post columnist Paul Krugman wrote which Rumsfeld called "repugnant."

"After reading Krugman’s repugnant piece on 9/11, I cancelled my subscription to the New York Times this AM," Rumsfeld tweeted on Monday.

Rumsfeld's tweet came in response to Krugman writing that Sept. 11 became a "wedge issue."

"What happened after 9/11 â€" and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not â€" was deeply shameful. The atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue," Krugman wrote on his blog on Sunday.

Other conservatives made similar objections. Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin wrote that "one cannot begin to imagine what motivates such hatred and contempt for his countrymen."
