postheadericon Grassley doesn't think Palin will run

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said Wednesday he doesn't believe former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin plans to run for president.

"She sure is acting like a candidate. But I believe she will not be getting in," Grassley told Des Moines TV station WHO.

{mosads}The senator said Palin had not built enough of a campaign team to be a player in the 2012 Republican primary.

"She hasn't staffed up for it," Grassley said.

Palin has inspired a fresh round of will-she-or-won't-she speculation on the heels of a number of campaign-style events over the Labor Day weekend. Friday night in Iowa, Palin told reporters that there was "room for more" candidates in the Republican field. The next day at a speech before Tea Party supporters, she again seemed to criticized the crop of can! didates, cautioning, "Folks, you know it's not enough to change the uniform."

As for Grassley, he told WHO that he did not anticipate endorsing a Republican candidate before October. The senator said he would be watching the Republican debate tonight to see how well Texas Gov. Rick Perry performs as the presumptive front-runner â€" and how former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney handles his recent slip in the polls.
