postheadericon Team Romney questions Dem surrogate Granholm

One of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's (R) top political advisers took a shot on Wednesday at former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D), a top anti-Romney surrogate for national Democrats.

Eric Fehrnstrom, a top Romney aide and spokesman, dismissed Granholm's criticism of Romney as inauthentic, given her background.

He said on Twitter:

Canadian-born, California-raised Jennifer Granholm thinks Romney is out of touch with his native Michigan

Granholm's been heavily present in the media as a critic of Romney, especially because of the former Massachusetts governor's opinion in 2008 that Chrysler and GM should be left to go bankrupt. She's emerged as a top surrogate for national Democrats to use against Romney, especially because he hails from the Gr! eat Lakes state.

Romney will be traveling to Michigan on Thursday to talk jobs and the economy in the Detroit area; he was raised in the nearby suburbs and launched his presidential campaign in the state in 2008. (He later won its primary.) He also chose the University of Michigan as the backdrop for his major healthcare speech last month.
