postheadericon Romney supporters launch 'super PAC'

Supporters of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's (R) presidential campaign launched a so-called "super PAC" on Thursday to boost his candidacy.

Several veterans of Romney's 2008 presidential campaign announced the creation of Restore Our Future, a political fund that can spend and receive unlimited amounts of campaign cash on electoral efforts.

Restore Our Future was founded by Charlie Spies, Romney's general counsel in 2008, Carl Forti, Romney's political director, and Larry McCarthy, a former Romney media official. The trio formed Restore Our Future last fall, and have activated it in time for the Republican presidential primary.

"President Obama has failed to fix the problems that affect Americans," Spies said in a statement. "Restore Our Future will support a candidate who has worked in the private sector, who has created jobs, who understands the economy, and who believes America can succeed by the power of the American workfo! rce. Restore Our Future will support our next president, Mitt Romney."

Romney's campaign is already expected to be one of the best-funded operations of the 2012 campaign, and Restore Our Future only goes to greater length to build his operation. While the two cannot legally coordinate, Restore Our Future will be allowed to make independent expenditures on Romney's behalf that would seriously benefit his campaign.
