The wife of Rep. Anthony Weiner is pregnant, according to a report.

On Wednesday The New York Times reported that Huma Abedin, Weiner's (D-N.Y.) wife, is pregnant.

The news comes as Weiner faces increasing pressure from Republicans and a few Democrats to resign in response to his admission Monday that he sent a lewd tweet to a woman in Seattle. Weiner also admitted that he had had "inappropriate" Internet correspondence with "about six" other women over three years.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Democratic Congressional Committee Chairman Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) have both called for a House Ethics Committee investigation of Weiner's conduct to see if Weiner broke House rules.

At the press conference where Weiner admitted to raunchy behavior, he said he had no plans to resign his congressional seat.

Weiner's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
