postheadericon Protester heckles Obama at fundraiser

A protester shouted at President Obama as he gave a speech to Democratic donors at a fundraiser in Miami Monday night.

Obama was delivering his stump speech at his second Democratic National Committee fundraising event of the night when a man yelled at the president, “Keep your promise, stop AIDS now!’’

The incident caused Obama to stop speaking and look out to the crowd, according to a White House pool report. The audience then began a chant against the protester, chanting: “O-BA-MA! O-BA-MA!”

Obama reminded the protester, and the rest of the crowd, that his work is not yet finished after only one term in office.

“The reason we’re here today is because our work is not done’’ he said. “For all the progress we’ve made our work is not complete. We’re not at the summit. We’re just partway up the mountain. There is more to do.’’

Protesters became a semi-common feature during Obama's fundraising appe! arances during the 2010 midterm campaign.

In April, a group of ten protesters cut off Obama with a song that derided the government's treatment of Army Pfc. Bradley Manning, who is accused of leaking classified military documents to a source who then gave them to the organization WikiLeaks.
